Magazine haven!

So there are a few magazines I like to get subscriptions too. There are also a few I have tried and well not a huge fan.

I have compiled a list of a few of my favs and why! (Btw these are not in any certain order!)

First up

There is a few things I love about this magazine. The subscription is not expensive at all and sometimes online they will have specials where you can get your first year for only $2.00 total! That’s right only $2.00 for an entire year! I like that it has a TON of recipies in it, and most of them are fairly simple and don’t include a bunch of weird things you’ve never heard of. There is also a section of the magazine called the “kitchen sink”. On these pages you can find some things that would normally have in your kitchen but with a twist. They tell you the price and where you can buy these fun little treasures!

Next up,

So this one is one of my absolute favorites! It is on the pricey side at $30.00 for one year subscription. However I truley enjoy this magazine. Yes it too has wonderful recipies, but it also has amazing articles! This one magazine has a travel section, home section, garden section, shopping and cooking section! Also each magazine is roughly 150 pages. So yes it may be on the pricey side but you get a lot out of this one gem!

Next up!

Okay so this is by far my favorite magazine! On the website marthastewart.com you can get this magazine for $10 for one year and for $2.00 more they will send you Better Holmes and Garden! This magazine has amazing ideas, tear out recipie cards, crafts, shopping suggestions, beautiful decorating advice and much more! It’s not a super thick magazine but the magazine is 1.5 inches taller and wider than most magazines!

The next one is…

Most people would associate their magazine for people over the age of 50. I’m here to tell you as a 28 year old woman I love this magazine! It’s about $8.00 for a year which really isn’t bad! Some of the best inspirational articles are found in this magazine, along with some lighter recipies and some great shopping finds! If your looking for a magazine you can actually read and get inspired, this is the one!

Last but not least!

So for this magazine, I have one question. Is your favorite tv station HGTV? If it is this is the magazine for you! It comes in at about $8 a year and features the things you love about HGTV. From the flea market finds, to repurposing stuff in your home or giving that room in your home the much needed renovation. It has step by step guides along with recommendations on where to find the great ideas in the magazine. It even includes a few recipies!

I hope I have helped you find a magazine that works for you! If not I hope you reply with some of your favorites!

Deadly cocktails!

Last night my dad, step mom, brother, future sister-in-law, and neighbor came over for pizza and game night!

We had a blast!

We ate Papa Murpheys pizza, which if you have never had your are missing out! It’s a pizza place that’s makes your pizza in front of you, and you take it home and bake it yourself! Is very reasonable and very delicious!

We made Snickertini’s. They are so yummy but extremely deadly! Lol here’s the recipie!!

Doesn’t it look so good!

Then we played pandemic. Is a game where you work has a team to cure a bunch of diseases and save the world. Hardest game ever!!!! Still have never beat the game.

Then a fun round of sharades.

Over all it was a great night and can’t wait to do it again!

Where do I go from here…

So I feel silly and some of you might feel the same way but I am 28 years old and have no clue what I want to do for a career.

It’s so sad because I see people all around me doing what the love. Then I see some people who are working but hate their jobs and they are miserable.
I don’t want to be miserable with what I do. I love crafting and cooking. I don’t know any jobs where you can do crafts all day. As far as cooking I like to cook what I want and try new things. Not like a chef but I love blogging about food.

Here in rural Illinois there are not a lot of options for something like that.

So where do I go from here…

I’m not sure. I know God has plan for me. My husband is so supportive and I love him so much!  He is always saying to find something that makes you happy.

Well right now I don’t know what that is…

Only time will tell.

Does anyone else feel this way?

MIA

As the title says, I have been MIA for the last couple weeks.

sorry….

Over the past two weeks we have done a major renovation on our master bedroom. It is still not quite done but it is looking way better.

We ripped out the carpets, trim, padding and walls. We built a new closet, laid vinyl plank flooring put in new trim and added some styling features to the room. We are not completely finished but my husband and I are so happy with how far it has come.

When we first bought our house it was a rental property, so a lot of the things in the home were done very cheap and not very well. One room at a time we have been fixing it up!

Below are the three rooms we have renovated so far…

So first up is the bedroom. In the before and after picture the before is when we first bought the house and we were doing our walk through and the people had not moved out yet… so that is not our furniture!! 🙂

during construction we found this hideous tile flooring under the carpet…

but once the floors were in we loved it!!!

finally added some furniture but wasn’t to crazy about the bedspread… so we changed it! By the way the floating nightstands are some old wine crates we had found a couple years ago. They were used in our wedding and now reside in our master bedroom.

I loved the white!

So here is the before and after… Once again none of the stuff in the before pictures were ours.

Here are a couple before and after pictures of the other two rooms we have done so far…

We have a very small bathroom but we are making it work!

Slowly we are updating all of the appliances, but we are super happy with the results so far!

Demo day!

Today we begin demolishing the closet in our master bedroom!

We have lived in our house for a year now and we have been fixing it up a little at a time.

Well starting today the bedroom is getting a makeover!

We are extending the closet, ripping up carpet and putting down vinyl plank flooring, refinishing the furniture and I have some other little decor things to add!

Keep in mind I am a cheapo… so there will be a lot of repurposing and great deals used in this remodel!

I will keep you posted with pictures!

This is going to take a while…

I spent what!?

So…. remember how I said we going to Champaign today fabric?

Well…

We got fabric at the first store plus a few other things!

But see what happened was our car was possessed and it had a mind of its own. So when we got in the car after our first stop, Hobby Lobby, the car took off like a bat out of hell and drove us to Michaels and Target! We had NO control over it, like I said the car was possessed!

🙂

Can I just tell you how much I love craft stores! People go shopping and drop a ton of money on clothes purses and shoes (I have to admit I am also one of those people) however I go into a craft store and it is game over!

But I am also a VERY stingy person and will not buy anything with out it being in sale and I have a coupon.

You should NEVER pay full price for anything!

Okay so don’t forget the car is possessed and it drove us to Target… once again not our fault!

Aren’t those lamps so cute!!

Okay so we got more than just lamps..

still not our fault… okay maybe that part was our fault. 🙂

However after all the stuff we bought between both store we did not spend more than $60. That’s right, two people at least three bags full at all three places and we spent no more than $60!

That’s a pretty great day! Especially spending the day with my bestie!
